 Rose Dance Dress

This dance dress has a custom made tutu to give it a very full shape.  The skirt itself is a layer of white satin with a holographic dot chiffon on top.  Colored roses have been individually shaped and positioned into clusters around the skirt out of sparkle glitter organza in whites, hot pinks, greens, and blues.  Beneath those layers are a series of colored lights stiched into the petticoat and wired to a battery pack holder in the back of the skirt.  To disguise the packs, a "v" shape cluster of roses is set on top. The top of the piece is a corset like bodice that ribbons in the front and has a stripe of silver sequins that are angled down the side.  It has more roses decorating around the neckline and more silver sequined material as a ruffle around the straps and in front of the bodice.  The headpiece has more roses and small tiny lights attached to a battery pack.  Ribbons run down the back.  The battery pack on the headpiece is designed to stuff into the hair or attach in an alternate location.

And when the lights go out, you can see the colored lights beneath the skirt and in the headband.  In this shot, the skirt lights have not been stitched to the petticoat, so you can see that the lights are not distributed properly and there is a dark spot on the side.  Later on, the lights will be positioned so that though they are farther apart, they will glow evenly beneath the skirt.

The white lights on the head piece glow next to the roses, giving the impression that they are also colored, but they light up the colored roses instead.

The lights are sewn to the petticoat instead of the skirt so it can be washed as needed.  Since lighting is permanently stitched, the petticoat cannot be washed.
