Also making its debut at the 2008 Labyrinth Masquerade in Hollywood, CA (see the Frog Prince Page), the Peacock Princess was a truly embellished ballgown. Using feathers, embroidery, and satin in purples, pinks, and golds this ballgown incorporates historical costuming and fantasy.
Here is a full shot of the front of the ballgown. The body of the gown is made from coordinating pink and purple satins forming panels around the dress. An overlay "apron style" piece of sparkle organza embellishes the front and pins up on the sides. Also, two embellished satin panels hang down in front embroidered and beaded. The top bodice incorporates purple pleats around the bust area and a panelled waistline reinforced with twill and lined in satin. The sleeves are coque feathers that can be worn on the shoulder or off the shoulder.
Here is a close-up view of the bodice. Underneath the feathers there are elastic straps to add support and weight. The feathers have been tacked on in a loop fashion so that as the straps stretch there is enough give in the feathers to keep them from tearing or pulling off. The bodice is pleated and a gold and crystal brooch decorates the front. Very faintly you will see that there is a small line of purple and pink irridescent beads that lines at the "V" on the bodice. The reinforced bodice panels are backed with twill to add structure and flatten the waistline.
This angle shows the satin sashes that hang down in the dress. It has a gold embroidery embellished with crystals and purple and pink beads. You can also see the rolled edge of the apron how it drapes along the side in a perfect princess fashion.
Here you can see a close-up shot of the sash embroidery.

A close-up of the apron sides. The sides of the apron are gathered underneath two chiffon and beaded flowers for a very elegant touch.
The entire bodice laces up the back with stretch cording and silver grommets.
The whole reason why this ballgown is called the Peacock Princess is for the back of this dress. Pink and gold peacock feathers have been embroidered onto two of the back panels of the skirt (is not sashes like the front). 10 rows of glittering pink peacock eyes, each with a jewel in the center and gold metallic thread sparkling as you move.
Here is a close-up of the peacock eyes. As you can see there is a base thread laid down of light pink and fuschia and then gold thread is embroidered on top of it. The center of each of the eyes has a small diamond like jewel sewn in and at the sides adjoining to the next eye, there is a pink pearl accent. No detail was spared in this costume!
