One of our particular favorites, we created costumes to stage the scene of a vampire and his love wearing these exquisite pieces.  The Midnight Dress and the Vampire's ruffled shirt and vest.  The Midnight Dress incorporates a full sweeping train and an extremely full skirt with 10 yards of irridescent black and blue taffeta.  The back of the dress is grommeted and laced up as shown and has an off the shoulder neckline and fitted boat-style neckline.

As the story goes....Camelia is heiress to a large estate, the daughter of noble birth.  She falls in love with Christian, poor and perfect. But alas her parents disapproved of the match and hoped to suit her to the son of a more wealthy family.  Camelia and Christian, entranced by love met secretly in the gardens of her estate and their love continued to bloom.

Trapped by his love for Camelia and the inability to marry her, things begin to get dark.  Feelings of dispair, impatience, and resentment form in the mind of Christian. Unknowing what will happen, he wanders in the night alone with his thoughts playing them over and over his heart growing darker and darker, and a sleeping beast within him is awakened. A vampiric quality buried deep within, and a thirst for blood and revenge.  It overwhelms him, and he hunts for a victim running back to the scene where he left his beloved Camelia.

Camelia falls dead in his arms. The fresh blood of his bite pierced and stale, the color gone from her skin. As if under a spell, remorse fills his heart as he clutches his love now dead before him.  And all that he knew slips away with her.
